Holy Cross: 3 vs Mount Pearl : 0

Owen MaClease, Aaron Anstey, Michael Brushett & Thomas Pieroway

Pieroway or clearway ?

For the second consecutive game it was Holy Cross goalkeeper, Thomas Pieroway  clearing the way for another Holy Cross shut-out victory over Mount Pearl. Less than 24 hrs earlier Holy Cross had defeated Mount Pearl 1-0 at KGV.  While on Sunday, at the Smallwood Field , Holy Cross  defeated Mount Pearl 3-0 . Only this time Holy Cross won the match in a much more convincing style. Aaron Anstey scored at the 6 minute mark and from there Holy Cross never looked back. Rookie, Owen MaClease dented the twine  for Cross at the 35 minute mark and this 2-0 lead held up for the remainder of the half.
In the second half Mount Pearl looked rather tired and Holy Cross pretty well had their way and controlled most of the half. Neither team mounted much offensively but Holy Cross dominated the game with their speed and with  total ball possession. At the 90 minute mark, much improved, Mike Brushett  sealed the victory with a goal at the 90 minute mark. While Holy Cross's goalkeeper, Thomas Pieroway, earned his 2nd shut-out off the weekend and his league leading 5th shut-out off the season.
